Aerial CONSTRUCTION - November 2005
We've spent the last couple of weeks putting the aerials together, and are now waiting for the aerial riggers to do their bit and get them in the air. GB3OA will initially use two aerial working, with a 0dB gain folded dipole lower down the mast and a Diamond X200N at the top. Here's some pictures of the aerials and their construction.

Chris M3XVV holds the Diamond X200N prior to it going on the mast

Mark G4EID, secures the TX aerial to the mast.

Meanwhile Phil G8XVV has the job of terminating the coaxial cables with N connectors. Since the length of the feeders won't be that great, we're using Westflex W103 rather than Heliax, nevertheless, the coax and connectors together were still more expensive than the aerials :-)

Martyn G6IVC has the job of keeping the coax coiled without kinking.

Graham G7EVY ensures everything is cable tied off and wrapped up with tape, it's amazing how UV light eventually causes cable ties to fail! We're not anticipating getting any more than 4 to 5 years out of these aerials before they need replacing, the sea air in Southport has devastating effects on all things metal :-)

And receive aerial...

And finally, both of them.
