The plot shown is calculated using software available here. Click on the image for a high resolution coverage map.

The parameters used are the same as those at the RMC site, i.e. the dark blue area represents a 99% likelihood of mobile and 90% hand held use, the light blue area represents a 90% likelihood of mobile use. The plot for the GB3OA on the RMC site is for 25W ERP. The plot shown here is for what the NOV has been granted for - 5W ERP.

From the outset GB3OA was designed to provide just local coverage for coastal south west Lancashire, so it won't provide coverage similar to "wide area" repeaters such as GB3MP. Coverage in and around Southport Town Centre on a hand portable radio is around 99%. Further away, mobile operation is possible out towards Preston, Crosby and Skelmersdale, although there will be pockets of poor reception. For fixed station operation these limits may extend further, but don't expect to get glowing signal reports into the box!
